The cash a household pays in its first month after moving to Dubai or Abu Dhabi, for one adult, a couple and a couple with two school-age children. Every line names its source and the date it was checked.
A couple with two school-age children moving to Dubai pays AED 85,277 in the first month, and hands over AED 135,000 more in post-dated rent cheques that clear over the year. The same household in Abu Dhabi pays AED 63,422. Part of each total is deposits and a bank balance that come back or stay yours.

How each figure is built
Each row runs Landed's first-month cash calculator at its default lines on Landed's planning rent for that emirate and household: an unfurnished apartment, rent paid in four cheques.
One adult and a couple are costed on the smaller home; a household of three or more on the larger one, the same rule the Landing Check uses.
Lines priced in pounds (the degree attestation) are converted at £1 = AED 4.90, the rate checked on 3 November 2026.
Tuition, flights and monthly living costs are not part of first-month cash and are left out.
Read before quoting
The rents are planning figures from the named property sources, not a survey of every area. Abu Dhabi's come from one area, Al Reem Island.
The larger home differs by emirate: Dubai's is a 3-bed registered contract rent, Abu Dhabi's a 2-bed asking rent. Compare the family rows with that in mind.
Dubai includes the UK driving licence exchange and a Salik toll tag. Landed has no sourced figure for the Abu Dhabi licence exchange, so Abu Dhabi has no transport line.
Some figures were read from search results rather than the source page; each footnote says which.
Not counted, because Landed has no sourced figure or the cost is optional:
Employment entry permit and residence visa
UK police certificate (ACRO)

Health insurance for family members

Using the data
The CSV holds one row per figure: the annual rent each household is built on, every line counted, the month-one total, the part that comes back, and the later rent cheques. Each row carries its source, link, checked date and whether the source page was opened. It is generated from the same data as this page, so the two always match.
Please cite it as “Landed first-month cash index, November 2026 (Q4 2026)” with a link to this page. To work out a figure for your own rent and household, use the first-month cash calculator. Questions about the data: support@landed.guide.
